Shadwell Announce 2016 Sponsorship Programme

Posted on: 27th Apr 2016

In the UK, Shadwell will renew their sponsorship for Shadwell Day on Friday 23rd September as part of the Cambridgeshire meeting at the Rowley Mile, Newmarket.

Shadwell have sponsored a community project encouraging local primary schools to learn about multiculturalism in the town and racing industry and using this knowledge to design and paint life size horse models which will be unveiled on Shadwell Day 2016.  The project is part of Newmarket 350, celebrating 350 years of horseracing in the town and is organised in association with Newmarket Racecourses.

In addition, Shadwell will again be offering 100 beneficiaries of Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockeys Fund the chance to come racing for free on the day.

Ayr Racecourse will also benefit from Shadwell’s renewal of the Harry Rosebery Stakes (Listed) in September 2016.  Shadwell supports 4 races in total on Ayr Bronze Cup Day help raise the profile of the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee of which HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the patron.  The college seeks to develop cross cultural understanding by running open lectures and short courses as well as residential courses for students from the UAE.

The regular summer fixture in Deauville will also remain as Shadwell support the renewal of the Prix de Pomone (Gr.2) on 13th August.

Richard Lancaster, Shadwell Stud Director commented:

“The support of Thoroughbred racing is an important part of our remit.  It gives us a chance to invest in the sport Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum loves and the opportunity to meet owners and breeders who have supported our stallions.  We are particularly pleased that so many French breeders have sent mares to MUHAARAR in his first season so sponsoring in France is key.  We have also retained our support of racing in Italy this year [8th May at Rome Capannelle] as we have multiple Champion Italian Sire MUJAHID there as well as ARCANO who recently re-located from Derrinstown Stud in Ireland.”
