Stallion Movements 2016

Posted on: 7th Jan 2016

The 2016 breeding season is almost upon us and for those breeders who have not yet secured their matings for the coming year there are some interesting and exciting amendments to Shadwell's European stallion roster to consider.

In the UK, MUSTAJEEB became the first sprinting son of NAYEF to stand at stud.  He will be taking up stud duties at Overbury Stud, Gloucester.  MUSTAJEEB was a record breaking winner of the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and the winner of the Gr.2 Greenland Stakes.  He is Timeform rated 121 and will be supported with mares from the Shadwell broodmare band. Breeders can find more information about MUSTAJEEB at www.ovstud.co.uk

After several seasons at the Nunnery Stud, MAWATHEEQ (Danzig x Sarayir) has moved to Haras du Thenney, France for the 2016 season.  This Group winning son of Danzig defeated 8 Gr.1 winners during his career.  He has an impressive 45% winners/ runners strike rate (all ages) and a pedigree which speaks for itself, being from the family of Nashwan, Ghanaati and Nayef.  His fee for 2016 is €2,000 and more information can be found at www.thenney.com.

HAAFHD continues duties at Beechwood Grange Stud in Yorkshire while KUTUB remains at Girsonfield Stud, Northumberland.

Moving further afield, Gr.1 winning son of Oasis Dream, ARCANO (pictured) has moved from Derrinstown Stud, Ireland to join multiple Champion sire in Italy, MUJAHID at Agricola di Besnate. ARCANOI is already proving popular with breeders in his new catchment area while MUJAHID (Danzig x Elrafa Ah) was crowned leading Italian based sire for the 4th consecutive year in 2015 with a winners/ runners strike rate of 58%.  In 2015 he also sired his first Northern Hemisphere Gr.1 winner, CLEO FAN. For more information about ARCANO and MUJAHID can be found at: www.sab.it

Finally, NAAQOOS (Oasis Dream x Straight Lass) who has recently had a spate of winners in Europe has moved to the Jalobey Stud, Morocco. After several seasons at Haras du Mezeray, Shadwell were approached by one of the most innovative studs in Morocco where Thoroughbred and Arabian breeding is going from strength to strength.

We wish all our partners the best of luck with their new charges for the 2016 season.
