ZAMAAM (MUHTATHIR) wins the Group 3 Abu Dhabi Championship, the highlight of the Thoroughbred season at Abu Dhabi.

Shadwell Stud's French based sire MUHTATHIR, who stands at Haras du Mezeray, had a successful week with four winners including homebred ZAMAAM (GB), winner of the Group 3 Abu Dhabi Chamionship on Sunday, 19th March.

The Group 3 Abu Dhabi Championship, run over 11 furlongs, is Abu Dhabi's highlight of the Thoroughbred season. A carnival winner at Meydan in February, ZAMAAM (Muhtathir x Nasheed) was Jim Crowley's pick for the race. The pair successfully carried HH Sheikh Hamdan's blue and white silks to victory and fended off SHARPALO to win the race. ZAMAAM subsequently gained an invitation to run in the Dubai Gold Cup on Dubai World Cup Day, March 25th.

Making it three winners in one day for the Haras du Mezeray resident, PHELPS WIN (FR) won the Prix Cadet Roussel at Saint-Cloud and LE BUT (FR) won the Prix de la Societe de Montignac-Charente at Angouleme. Earlier in the week, MUHTATHIR was the sire of PACHA DU POLDER (FR), who won the St. James Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup at Cheltenham on Friday.

MUHTATHIR (Elmaamul x Majmu) stands at Haras du Mezeray in 2017 for a fee of €6,000 Live Foal.
