Posted on: 5th Mar 2015

Shadwell Stud’s 2014 Coral – Eclipse (Gr.1) winner MUKHADRAM has had his first 5 mares successfully scanned in foal.

The son of Shamardal is covering a full but restricted book of 120 mares, 80% of which are Stakes winners/ performers, winners, or the dams of winners/ Stakes performers.  One of the first mares to be scanned in foal is Shadwell Estate Company Ltd’s own BADWEIA (Kingmambo); a winner of 2 races herself and dam of MITRAAD (her first foal) that won on debut at 2YO in the Sakhee EBF Maiden Stakes at Newmarket. BADWEIA is also half-sister to Gr.2 performer HAATHEQ (Seeking The Gold); USA Stakes winner FARHAAN (Jazil) and Listed runner-up WID (Elusive Quality).

Other notable mares due to visit MUKHDRAM in his first season include:

  • Flying Childers Stakes (Gr.2) and Molecomb Stakes (Gr.3) winner WUNDERS DREAM (Averti)
  • USA Gr.1 runner-up EURO EMPIRE (Bartok)
  • LADY CATHERINE (Bering) a Gr.3 winner and runner-up in the Italian Oaks (Gr.1)
  • Multiple Gr.3 winner WURFSCHEIBE (Tiger Hill)
  • Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr.2) runner-up and Oaks (Gr.1) third SHADOW DANCING (Unfuwain)
  • HEART STOPPING (Chester House) dam of multiple Group winner LOLLY FOR DOLLY
  • UMLILO (Mtoto) dam of USA Gr.2  winner FANTASTIC PICK

Shadwell’s Stud Director, Richard Lancaster was delighted with the news: “He had covered his test mares very well and has shown himself to be professional in the breeding shed so the news is not a surprise but obviously very welcome.  We are very happy with the standard of mare MUKHADRAM is covering and look forward now to his first foals in 2016.”

MUKHADRAM stands at the Nunnery Stud at a fee of £7,000 (1st Jan SLF) and is now full.
