One of the final duties of Shadwell’s out-going Marketing Manager Rachael Gowland has been to commission distinguished British artist, Jeremy Houghton to produce an image for the 2018 brochure.  Jeremy has carried out a number of prestigious residencies in his career being the official artist for 2008 London Fashion Week and the 2012 London Olympics. Jeremy was also the artist in residence at Highgrove in 2014 for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and at Goodwood in 2015 for the Earl of March.

In 2016, Jeremy was the official artist for the James Hunt Estate reproducing a series of works to commemorate the Formula One Champion’s 10 career wins. He is currently artist in residence for sailing’s Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing, America’s Cup team and the official artist for the 2017 Wimbledon Championship.

As well as winning exciting and prestigious projects and commissions in more popular sports, Jeremy also has form in the racing world. In 2012, he won the ‘Best Sporting Artist’ award from the Society of Equestrian Artists, with his painting of Sam Waley-Cohen and Long Run winning the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Talking about the prospect of working with Shadwell, Jeremy said: “I feel extremely honoured to have been selected to paint at Shadwell this year. It is one of the pillars of Newmarket, and indeed one of the most important racing operations in the world, so to work alongside and visually capture horses of the highest pedigree is such an exciting prospect. To also rub shoulders with the people who make the place tick, and watch how they bring the best out of their horses, will be a privilege I am conscious very few have.”
