Shadwell Estate Company Ltd have reached a deal to stand Gr.3 winner and Champions Stakes runner up MAWATHEEQ at Haras du Thenney, France in 2016.

The son of Danzig retired to the Nunnery Stud in 2011 and had a winning crop of 2YOs in 2014 which have progressed during the current year.  With several purple patches under his belt throughout the 2015 flat racing season, he has produced promising winners such as the Mark Johnston trained MARTINIQUAISE and the Dermot Weld trained MULKEYYA.

Richard Lancaster, Shadwell’s Stud Director said: “We wanted to broaden MAWATHEEQ’S appeal and with his outstanding pedigree, France seemed like a suitable place for him to continue his career.

We have stood stallions with Haras du Thenney in the past and we are delighted to be renewing this connection and wish them the very best of luck with him.”

Niccolo Riva, Manager of Thenney added: “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to stand MAWATHEEQ at Thenney. He will undoubtedly be one of the best bred stallions to stand in France, and taking in to account his good looks and excellent Timeform rating, he should attract both flat and NH breeders. We are also very happy to renew our historical collaboration with Shadwell.”
