Successful in the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes and a close third in the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes, Muhaarar always appealed as the most promising of all Europe's elite juveniles. To say his three-year-old career fulfilled this promise would be a mighty understatement. Reappearing in the Gr.3 Greenham Stakes, he lowered the track record by 0.7 seconds, a record which had stood for nearly fifteen years. In a magnificent seven week midsummer, he then proved himself the finest sprinter in Europe, storming four lengths clear of the cream of his own age group in Royal Ascot's Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup before conquering his elders in both the Gr.1 July Cup and Gr.1 Prix Maurice De Gheest. And thus to the coup de grace, a crushing defeat of the previously unbeaten Gr.1 Haydock Park Sprint Cup hero Twilight Son and eighteen others in the Gr.1 British Champions Sprint.
That Muhaarar had speed to burn was no surprise. By another Gr.1 July Cup hero in Green Desert, his sire Oasis Dream was crowned European Champion Juvenile after an emphatic victory in the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes and trained on to become Europe's best sprinter at three, defeating the Australian speedball Choisir in the Gr.1 July Cup and burning off his rivals in the Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes. It has taken Oasis Dream little time to prove himself the heir to Green Desert's title as Europe's most reliable source of top-class speed, Muhaarar being one of fourteen individuals in his first eight crops to triumph at the highest level. Another winner of the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes, Oasis Dream's son Showcasing is one of Europe's most promising young stallions.
Muhaarar is one of three Stakes winners from just seven foals by Oasis Dream out of daughters of the French Champion Sire Linamix. His dam Tahrir was runner-up in a Listed event over six furlongs and has produced two classy sprinters in Sajwah and Tamaathul to DANEHILL's sons EXCEED AND EXCEL and TIGER HILL respectively. By the outstanding speedster Last Tycoon, Muhaarar's grandam Miss Sacha won a Listed race over the minimum trip and finished fourth in the King's Stand Stakes before producing a Group winner to Tiger Hill in Mister Sacha. Closely related to EL GRAN SENOR's Gr.1 Racing Post Trophy hero AL HAREB, Miss Sacha is out of a half-sister to the Gr.1 Irish Champion Stakes heroine Timarida, while, of her third dam, Timeform enthused: "Pugnacity is a magnificent type of animal. She's genuine, never runs a bad race, gives her running whatever the conditions, and possesses the speed to win in good company at five furlongs and the stamina to beat useful performers over a mile." Successful in the Lowther Stakes at two and the following season's Falmouth Stakes, Pugnacity produced the Gr.1 York International ace RELKINO to Linamix's third generation ancestor Relko and is a granddaughter of another fine juvenile in the Cherry Hinton Stakes victrix Ballisland.
Muhaarar is inbred 4x5 to the outstanding Mill Reef, while Green Desert's grandam is a daughter of Mill Reef's sire, the US Champion Juvenile Never Bend. The dam of FAIRY KING and SADLER'S WELLS, Ireland's Champion Juvenile Filly Fairy Bridge is by Never Bend's talented three parts-brother Bold Reason. Fairy King sired Pugnacity's Gr.3 Killavullan Stakes-winning grandson Kincara Palace. The damsire of Oasis Dream's Gr.1 ATC Metropolitan Handicap victor Opinion and classy juvenile Approve, Sadler's Wells sired the Gr.1 Arlington Million hero BEAT HOLLOW from a Classic-winning full-sister to Oasis Dream's dam and the Gr.1 National Stakes ace and Champion Sire EL PRADO from a Classic-winning three parts-sister to Oasis Dream's fourth generation ancestor Drone. Sadler's Wells' sons IN THE WINGS and HIGH CHAPARRAL are in turn out of a daughter and a granddaughter of Mill Reef's son Shirley Heights, while BARATHEA is the damsire of two Group winners from fifteen foals by Oasis Dream. Out of a Sadler's Wells mare, SAKHEE is by Bahri, a son of Mill Reef's genetic three parts-brother RIVERMAN. By Mill Reef's son DOYOUN, DAYLAMI is the sire of Timarida's Group 3 winning daughter Timarwa and the damsire of Oasis Dream's Gr.1 Prix Morny hero Arcano, while Green Desert is a three parts-brother to BERTOLINI and the dam of ARCH.
Oasis Dream's eighteen foals from mares by MACHIAVELLIAN feature the leading sprinter Goldream and the French Champion Juvenile Naaqoos. Like DANEHILL, Machiavellian is out of a daughter of a half-sister to Northern Dancer and is the sire of MEDICEAN, whose third dam is a three parts-sister to Linamix's ancestor Caro, and STREET CRY, whose grandam is by Riverman and whose full-sister is the dam of SHAMARDAL.
Oasis Dream has sired the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes hero Charming Thought and Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Jwala from twenty-four foals out of mares by INDIAN RIDGE, whose sire AHONOORA begot Miss Sacha's Listed-winning half-sister Pinta, and two Group winners from just nine foals from mares by EFISIO. The latter's short-lived Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes victor PIPS PRIDE is out of a daughter of Relkino and sired a Stakes winner from a half-sister to Muhaarar's third dam. Relko's three parts-brother Reliance is the damsire of DIESIS and KRIS, Kris' Classic-winning daughter Rafha being the dam of Green Desert's Gr.1 Haydock Park Sprint Cup king INVINCIBLE SPIRIT and Danehill's son KODIAC.
Tahrir is closely related to Last Tycoon's leading miler MARJU, while Miss Sacha combines the Irish Derby victor Sayajirao with his three parts-sisters Rosy Myth and Double Rose. Sayajirao is a full-brother to the Champion Juvenile Dante, whose grandson Derring-Do sired HIGH TOP and is prominent in EFISIO, Green Desert's son DESERT STYLE, Sadler's Wells' son MONTJEU and PRIMO DOMINIE. Dante's grandson Tudor Melody is closely related to the Middle Park Stakes winner Track Spare, sire of Muhaarar's fourth dam, and is prominent in DOYOUN, GRAND LODGE, PETONG and, via his son WELSH PAGEANT, MARJU, Ahonoora's son INCHINOR and CELTIC SWING.
