MUHAARAR available to cover Southern Hemisphere mares
Posted on: 13th Jul 2017
Champion sprinter MUHAARAR will be made available for a select number of mares to be bred to southern hemisphere time in 2017.
The four-time Group 1 winner’s first foals have been hitting the ground this year and breeders from all over the globe have been impressed with what they have seen.
Richard Lancaster, Shadwell Stud Director commented: “The first foals by MUHAARAR have been impressing breeders not just in Europe but all over the world. There has been plenty of interest from the southern hemisphere, so we are delighted to give breeders the opportunity to use him.
“Australian breeding is built around speed and MUHAARAR was the fastest of his generation. You can’t forget he still holds the fastest time for the Commonwealth Cup.”
MUHAARAR, who is the highest rated son of leading stallion OASIS DREAM, was a top-class sprinter for HH Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum. Trained by Charlie Hills, he blitzed his rivals in the inaugural running of the Commonwealth Cup before victories in the July Cup, Prix Maurice de Gheest and Qipco British Champions Sprint.
A half-sister to Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes winner CEILING KITTY was the first foal by MUHAARAR to come under the hammer at the Goffs London Sale last month and she did not disappoint, selling with her dam BALDOVINA for £300,000.
