First foal a colt for Champion Sprinter MUHAARAR

Posted on: 13th Jan 2017

Shadwell Estate Company Ltd’s 2015 Champion sprinter MUHAARAR sired his first offspring this week when a colt foal was born at Churchview Stables, Co Kildare, Ireland.

The colt is out of the Group winning maiden mare NEW PROVIDENCE (Bahamian Bounty) belonging to Chris Humber who’s filly ARCHITECTURE ran an electric second to MINDING in this year’s Epsom Oaks.

From 13 starts, NEW PROVIDENCE won four times and was placed a further six meaning she was only out of the frame three times during her whole career. Two of her four wins were at Group level: the first being in the Gr.3 Dick Poole Stakes as a two year old at Salisbury where she beat a field of 13 runners.  NEW PROVIDENCE repeated the trick a year later at York when winning the Gr.3 Summer Stakes; both her group wins were over six furlongs on good ground.  These victories, coupled with places in the Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes, Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes, Gr.3 Chartwell Stakes and Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes gave NEW PROVIDENCE an official rating of 107.  She was trained throughout her career by Hugo Palmer and was bred by James Ortega Bloodstock.

Richard Lancaster, has been eagerly awaiting this news since the start of the year:

“We are delighted that MUHAARAR’S first foal is now safely on the ground, after all the hard work we put in to his first book and the support the breeders’ have given us, it is good get off the mark.

NEW PROVDENCE is a great example of the kind of mare we were looking for when selecting MUHAARAR’S book.  She was a group winning two year old that trained on and won over a perfect sprint distance.  It is mares like that, that will help him get his first two year old winners in a couple of seasons time.”
