Modern Slavery Statement

This statement applies to Shadwell Estate Company Limited (referred to in this statement as "the Company"). The information included in the statement refers to the financial year 2023.

Introduction

The company is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Company Structure

Shadwell is a leading global thoroughbred racing and breeding operation and encompasses farms in the UK, Ireland and the U.S. The head office is based in Thetford, Norfolk. In addition to the main activities, a small part of the operation is made up of gamekeeping and property rental. As of February 2025, the company is responsible for the employment of more than 150 employees across our sites.

Commitment

The company acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The company understands that this requires an ongoing review of its internal practices in relation to its employees and supply chains.

Supply Chains

To fulfil its activities, the main supply chain includes the materials and services needed to ensure the care and upkeep of livestock, game, employees and properties.

Policies

We operate the following policies that describe our approach to the identification of modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking in its operations.

Recruitment Policy- recruitment is carried out in a fair and transparent manner and mandatory pre-employment/right to work checks are carried out prior to making any offer of employment.

Whistleblowing Policy
- all our managers, employees, customers and other business partners are encouraged to report any concerns either related to the direct activities of the company, or the supply chains of our company.

Due Diligence


The company carries out due diligence protocols to ensure slavery and/or human trafficking does not take place in its company or supply chains. The steps taken include:

• Requesting a copy of the slavery and human trafficking statement from all existing suppliers with a turnover of £36 million.
• Reviewing supplier contracts to include termination powers in the event the supplier is, or suspected, to be involved in modern slavery.
• Put measures in place to identify and assess the potential risks in its supply chains.
• Provide training on modern slavery to relevant employees.
• Carry out regular reviews of its protocols and policies.

The company has not, to its knowledge, conducted any business with another organisation which has been found to have involved itself with modern slavery or trafficking.
This statement is made in pursuance of Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed each financial year.
