Horses have been running in the nominated colours of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum since 1980 when a two-year-old colt named MUSHREF won a race at Redcar racecourse on the east Yorkshire coast. Since then, some of the world’s best racehorses have brought home the now famous blue and white colours in more than 50 international Gr.1 races including 15 European Classics, the Melbourne Cup, Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Dubai World Cup.
Shadwell has over 350 horses in training in the UK, France, Australia and South Africa that are managed centrally from Shadwell’s racing office in the UK. Angus Gold, Shadwell’s Racing Manager and his assistants Richard Hills, Emma Pugsley and Maria Ryan work in conjunction with more than 20 trainers in various different countries to fulfil the ambitions of Shadwell’s racing projects. In addition to this office and sales based team, Shadwell retains the services of two top-class jockeys; Jim Crowley and Dane O’Neill. Crowley was crowned champion jockey in 2016, while O’Neill tasted success at the highest level aboard BOLD EDGE in the Prix Maurice De Gheest and on MUHAARAR in the Commonwealth Cup.
