GOD OF WAR ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE WINNER FOR MOHAATHER
He is also the sire of Listed Rose Bowl Stakes hero Yah Mo Be There
Shadwell’s exciting first-season sire Mohaather put another impressive winner on the board when God Of War scored by clear water at Doncaster on Thursday.
The April-foaled colt, trained by Tom Clover for Clipper Logistics, had finished an encouraging fourth on debut at Yarmouth and showed the benefit of that experience in a competitive seven-furlong contest on his second start.
He broke well and travelled sweetly on the outside of the field, before taking the lead a furlong from home and staying on strongly to win decisively by a length and a quarter.
The race’s recent roll of honour features Acomb Stakes winner Valdermoro, Dewhurst runner-up Dubawi Legend and other black-type two-year-olds Albasheer, Dark Acclaim, Oviedo and War Rooms.
God Of War was bred by Jon Thompson out of the winning Mayson mare Lady Freyja, a half-sister to dual Listed scorer Party Boss from the further family of durable sprinter Fonthill Road. He was bought by Joe Foley for 80,000gns from the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
Mohaather, a son of Showcasing who was top-class at two, three and four, is also the sire of Listed Rose Bowl Stakes hero Yah Mo Be There, unbeaten Carlisle novice stakes winner Serving With Style and Chester nursery scorer Dukes Of Haather, as well as six other placed performers.
