Nine of Baaeed's first yearlings to be offered at Arqana
Blueblooded first-crop yearlings will be on the market throughout the yearling sales season.
The wait is almost over. The keenly anticipated debut yearlings by Shadwell's brilliant champion Baaeed will come under the hammer for the first time at the Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville.
Nine lots by the beautifully bred son of Sea The Stars feature in the catalogue, which was published this week. Their pedigrees reflect the rich depth of quality in his introductory book.
Lot 15, from La Motteraye Consignment, is a colt out of multiple Group 3 winner Anna Nerium, by Dubawi. The dam is a full-sister to Horris Hill Stakes scorer Piping Rock and a half-sister to the dam of 1,000 Guineas victress Billesdon Brook.
Lot 39, offered by Baroda Stud, is a colt out of Burswood, a Dubawi half-sister to Poule d’Essai des Pouliches heroine Beauty Parlour, later dam of US Grade 1 winner Blowout. It is the family of international top-level scorers Lucky Owners and Might And Power.
Lot 67, consigned by Haras d’Etreham, is a half-sister to exciting Heron Stakes winner Opera Ballo out of Dubai Opera, an Invincible Spirit full-sister to dual Group 3 scorer Lockwood and half-sister to high-class Earnshaw.
Lot 68, from Ecurie des Monceaux, is a half-sister to black-type winners Arabian Crown, Everest Rose and The Juliet Rose out of Dubai Rose, a Listed-winning Dubai Destination half-sister to the smart Soho Rose, dam of Group 1 scorer Sea La Rosa.
Lot 127, offered by Haras d’Etreham, is a half-brother to this season’s top-class three-year-old colt Maranoa Charlie out of Koubalibre, a winning Galileo half-sister to speedball two-year-old and 1,000 Guineas third Tiggy Wiggy.
Lot 147, consigned by Moanmore Stables, is a filly out of Magical Journey, a multiple Listed-placed daughter of Night Of Thunder descended from Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine and 1,000 Guineas runner-up Matiya.
Lot 152, from Haras de la Perelle, is a filly out of Mejthaam, a dual-winning Exceed And Excel half-sister to dual York Stakes scorer Alflaila. Her second, third and fourth dams were all black-type fillies in their racing pomp.
Lot 215, offered by Haras de Colleville, is a half-sister to stakes winners Kingentleman and Restiany out of Group 2-winning and Group 1-placed sprinter Restiadargent, a well bred daughter of Kendargent.
Lot 301, consigned by Barton Stud, is a filly out of Where Do You Go To, an Australia half-sister to Listed winner Repartee from the immediate family of brilliant champions Kingman and Oasis Dream and this season’s Oaks heroine Minnie Hauk.
Baaeed confirmed himself as the best horse in Europe since Frankel with top-level victories in the Prix du Moulin, Queen Elizabeth II, Lockinge, Queen Anne and Sussex over a mile, before a dazzling display in the Juddmonte International over two furlongs further.
The quality of mares he has received in his first years standing as a Shadwell stallion have been described as “exceptional for a stallion at his stage of his career” by Bill Oppenheim.
More blueblooded yearlings from his first crop will be offered throughout the yearling sales season.
