Mohaather has his first mares scanned in foal
A perfect start for the Sussex Stakes hero at Nunnery Stud
Group 1-winning miler MOHAATHER has made a flying start to his second career at stud, with the first three mares he covered having all been scanned in foal this week.
Richard Lancaster, Shadwell Stud Director, said: “It’s always an exciting time of year and I was delighted to hear his first three mares had been scanned in foal.
“MOHAATHER has been a consummate professional in his new role – incredibly straightforward and easy to manage. He has a great temperament and is particularly laid back, which is always a huge help.
“He has a fantastic book of mares – a big thank you to all the breeders who have supported him – and is due to cover dual Group 1 winner NAZEEF this week.
“At this early stage, it appears he’s a very fertile horse and we look forward to a long and successful breeding season.”
Mares scanned in foal to MOHAATHER include the Promenade Bloodstock-owned DIXIE DREAMER, an unraced daughter of EXCEED AND EXCEL who is a half-sister to Listed-winning sprinter BLANCHE DUBAWI, and SEEHARN, a Listed-winning PIVOTAL mare owned by Pier House Stud.
MOHAATHER, the highest rated son of leading sire SHOWCASING, carried the colours of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum to land five of his eight starts, with his biggest success coming in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes in 2020, a race in which he defeated Classic-winning pair KAMEKO and SISKIN as well as talented miler CIRCUS MAXIMUS.
