Shadwell looks to the future with yearling filly buys
Beautifully bred lots from Keeneland and Tattersalls enter the fold
Shadwell have been busy building for the future by purchasing some beautifully bred fillies at elite yearling sales on either side of the Atlantic in recent weeks.
Four were bought at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Kentucky: a Constitution half-sister to this year’s Preakness Stakes hero Early Voting; a daughter of Medaglia D’Oro and Jenny Wiley Stakes victress Centre Court; a Ghostzapper half-sister to five-time Grade 1 winner Knicks Go; and a Hard Spun half-sister to La Brea Stakes scorer Hard Not To Love.
Another two were acquired at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in Newmarket, where Sheikha Hissa Bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, head of Shadwell Estate, was on the grounds to cast her eye over the lots on offer.
They were a Kingman half-sister to recent Prix de l’Opera heroine Place Du Carrousel from the family of Classic-winning sisters Empress Josephine, Minding and Tuesday, and a Siyouni filly out of Group 2 winner and St Leger runner-up Lah Ti Dar, who is a Dubawi full-sister to dual champion Too Darn Hot.
“We’re hoping to buy some pedigrees for the future,” said Shadwell racing manager Angus Gold.
