The view from the track

Early season highlights already include Anmaat's Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan win and Hukum's remarkable comeback victory

In training with Owen Burrows:

HUKUM (IRE)
“He took his Sandown race very well and at this stage the plan would be to run him in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, though he will certainly need some rain between now and then; if all went well there we would look to run him in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot at the end of July, though if for some reason it poured with rain towards the end of June we could also consider supplementing him for the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.”

ANMAAT (IRE)
“It was fantastic to win a Group 1 at Longchamp last week with him, and again Owen is very pleased with the way he has come out of the race. He is another horse who would prefer decent ground, and we will review all options which include the Eclipse Stakes, or going abroad again to try and win another Group 1.”

ALFLAILA (GB)
“He has done a couple of half speeds now and hopefully will be back on the track towards the end of July.”

In training with John & Thady Gosden:

MOSTAHDAF (IRE)
“We have given him a good break since is exertions in the Middle East earlier in the spring; we are hoping to get him back to Royal Ascot for the Prince Of Wales Stakes, or alternatively he has an engagement in the Eclipse as well.”

ISRAR (GB)
“He ran a tremendous race to be second on his seasonal debut at Newbury; again he would not want extremes of going, but we will try and make him a Group winner when the conditions are right.”

SHAARA (GB)
“This filly ran a good race to be 4th at Epsom on Saturday on a track that didn’t play to her strengths; I would hope that she could be up to winning a Group race over a furlong further and on a more conventional track before the end of the summer.”

MOSTABSHIR (GB)
“Obviously Mostabshir was very impressive in winning the Novice race at York recently – at the moment his options include the St James’s Palace Stakes at Ascot, which would obviously be a big jump up in class, or if John and Thady Gosden feel he is showing plenty of speed in his work we could consider an entry in the Jersey Stakes.”

AL ASIFAH (GB)
“This filly won an ordinary race very well at Haydock recently, and John and Thady Gosden have made an entry for her in a 10 furlong Listed race at Goodwood on Sunday – both on her pedigree and her physique I would expect her to improve as the year goes on, and hopefully she will be a Stakes winning filly for us before too long.”

In training with William Haggas:

AL AASY (IRE)
“He is back in faster work and hopefully we will be looking for a race for him in the next three weeks.”

ALDAARY (GB)
“William Haggas has entered this horse in the John Of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock on Saturday, though he will need rain before then if he is to take up this engagement.”

MUJTABA (GB)
“William Haggas is hoping to run this horse in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot as long as the ground is not too quick.”

NAQEEB (IRE)
“This horse ran a very good race at Newbury to be second on his second start. He is a horse who is only going to improve as the year goes on and he stretches out in trip, and William Haggas may try and win his maiden with him at the end of Ascot week.”

FAKHAMA (IRE)
“This filly ran well on her second start against what looked a very high class field; she may well prefer easier ground, like so many of the Kingman’s, and hopefully we will get some black type for her in the near future.”

In training with Charlie Hills:

MUTASAABEQ (GB)
“We are freshening him up and hoping to run him in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.”

In training with Roger Varian:

AL HUSN (IRE)
“She won her Listed race well recently and we will look to find a suitable opportunity for her in Group races later this month.”
