15 individual winners for Mohaather
Mohaather has the joint highest number of black-type performers among the European freshman
Mohaather reached the milestone of 15 individual first-crop two-year-old winners in spectacular fashion on Wednesday, with son Gentle Warrior storming to a nine and a half-length victory in a Nottingham nursery for trainer Karl Burke and owners Hambleton Racing and Elaine Burke.
The sire has enjoyed a productive spell recently, with Serving With Style running second in the Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes and Chesneys Charm, Corriamo and Khutulun also scoring. Chesneys Charm and Corriamo have each won three races now, illustrating their toughness.
Mohaather has the joint highest number of black-type performers among the European freshman, with three – Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes winner and Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes runner-up Big Mojo and L. Rose Bowl Stakes scorer Yah Mo Be There, as well as Serving With Style.
Mohaather’s freshman success has been reflected in prices for his second crop of yearlings this sales season. Joseph O’Brien gave €180,000 for one of his colts at the Goffs Orby Sale, while SackvilleDonald and Manor House Stables paid €75,000 at the same sale for another colt. Oliver St Lawrence also went to 70,000gns for a son at the Tattersalls Somerville Sale.
He has lots on offer at Book 2 and Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale next week.
