Joseph O'Brien goes to €180,000 for Mohaather colt
Mohaather has made a flying start at stud, siring two impressive Stakes winners as well as a Group 2 placed filly
Mohaather saw his second-crop yearling son consigned by Clifton Farm reach €180,000 at Goffs Orby Book 1. He was purchased by Joseph O'Brien, the trainer of the high-class Arqana Series des Pouliches winner Mojave River by the same sire.
The stunning colt out of Listed-placed Mutebah, is a half-brother to Gr.2 Champagne Stakes second and dual Listed placed sprinter Albasheer. His female family descends to the great Height Of Fashion.
It also provides another timely advertisement for Shadwell's consignments as he was old in utero by Shadwell's Derrinstown Stud at Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale in 2022.
In other Goffs Orby Book 1 news, Kildaragh Stud's Mohaather out of Abhasana made €75,000 selling to SackvilleDonald and Manor House Stables. Meanwhile, Awtaad's filly out of Diylawa reached €80,000 for consignors Herbertstown House Stud.
Mohaather has made an flying start at stud already siring two impressive Stakes winners in Big Mojo (Group 3 winner, Group 2 placed) and Yah Mo Be There (Listed winner) as well as Group 2 placed filly, Serving With Style. This is on top of an ever-growing number of individual winners, 14 to date.
This is made all the more exciting as Mohaather had not yet won his maiden by this time in his two-year-old career, he would go on to be a Group winner as a juvenile. The son of Showcasing then improved throughout his three and four year old campaigns, highlighted by his brilliant Group 1 Sussex Stakes success at four.
