First-crop Stakes winner for MOHAATHER
Yah Mo Be There had finished a short-head second to the useful Andesite on debut and was sent off among the favourites for the Coventry Stakes
Shadwell’s exciting first-season sire Mohaather registered a first black-type winner when his highly talented son Yah Mo Be There broke his maiden by taking the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury in thrilling fashion on Friday.
The colt, trained by Richard Spencer for owner Phil Cunningham, travelled powerfully in the rear of the field before surging forward two furlongs from home and staying on strongly to record a one and a quarter-length victory in a smart field.
Yah Mo Be There had finished a short-head second to the useful Andesite on debut and was sent off among the favourites for the Coventry Stakes on his next start, but suffered trouble in running at Royal Ascot and didn’t show his best.
This was more like it from the Gimcrack Stakes entry, who was bred by Stuart McPhee and Nigel Kelly and is the first foal of the unraced mare Shurakaa. He was sold to Highflyer Bloodstock and Phil Cunningham at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale for £95,000.
Mohaather is also the sire of impressive Carlisle debut winner Serving With Style and Chester nursery scorer Dukes Of Haather, as well as five other placed performers.
A Showcasing full-brother to dual US Grade 2 winner Prize Exhibit and half-brother to Roodle, the dam of Queen Anne Stakes hero Accidental Agent, he was a Pattern winner at two, three and four.
His finest hour came when he showed an exceptional turn of foot to defeat stars Circus Maximus, Siskin and Kameko when landing the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
