Mohaather - impressed with his first yearlings

"A top price of 165,000gns was paid by Sackville Donald for a colt out of Wake Up Call consigned by Jamie Railton to Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale."

Star miler Mohaather’s first crop of yearlings had been in strong demand in 2023 with 64 lots offered.

A top price of 175,000gns was paid for a gorgeous colt out of Jm Jackson by Conor Quirke and RP Racing, the team behind Big Evs. He was consigned by Ringfort Stud, breeders of our own Group 1 winners Minzaal and Anmaat, at Tattersalls December Yearling Sale.

Sackville Donald went to 165,000gns for a colt out of Wake Up Call consigned by Jamie Railton to Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Three other lots by Mohaather also made six-figure sums: a colt out of Under The Covers bought by Sackville Donald at Book 2 again for 135,000gns; a filly out of Blue Geranium bought by McKeever Bloodstock and Charlie Hills at the Goffs Doncaster Premier Sale for £105,000; and a colt out of Maid For Winning bought by Howson and Houldsworth Bloodstock at Book 2 for 100,000gns.

Six more of Mohaather’s debut yearlings sold for 75,000gns or more, and another ten realised 50,000gns or more.

Purchasers included Nick Bradley, Kelly and Lucy Burke, Alex Elliott, Dermot Farrington, James Ferguson, Alice Haynes, Richard Hughes, Eve Johnson Houghton, Tom Malone, Hughie Morrison, Paddy Twomey and Oliver St Lawrence.

Mohaather’s stock also came onto the radar of breeze-up buyers, with Star Bloodstock, CH Thoroughbreds, Mark Grant Racing, Kilbrew Stables, Ardglas Stables, Drummona House and Meadowview Stables all securing lots.
