He becomes the third elite-level winner for the Derrinstown Stud resident

Awtaad issued a reminder of why he is considered one of the best value sires in the business when his son Ethical Diamond delivered a sensational victory for Willie Mullins in the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar.

Ethical Diamond, who had won the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot and Ebor at York this summer, came with a storming late run under Dylan Browne McMonagle to score by clear water from defending champion Rebel's Romance.

"It’s an unbelievable training performance," said McMonagle. "He’s something else. Willie was expecting him to run a nice race and to be placed would have been huge, but I was quietly confident beforehand.

"His form is very good and he’s a horse who likes to relax. On his last start at York he joined in at the two pole and it takes a good horse to do that. The trip was never going to be a problem and from the wide draw we decided to take him back."

Ethical Diamond, out of the Areion mare Pearl Diamond, won a Limerick maiden for his previous trainer Michael William O'Meara and owner Emma Kennedy, before he was sold to Mullins and his talent scout Harold Kirk for 320,000gns at the Tattersalls July Sale. He now represents the HOS Syndicate.

Ethical Diamond becomes the third Group 1 winner for Derrinstown Stud resident Awtaad, after brilliant talents Anisette and Anmaat. He is one of 20 black-type performers by the sire overall.
