Battaash on show over Newmarket's Henry Cecil Open Weekend
Shadwell's ex-racehorses were back in the limelight at the National Horse Racing Museum
Shadwell were proud to show the legendary Champion sprinter BATTAASH at the National Horse Racing Museum over Newmarket’s Henry Cecil Open Weekend. The now 10-year-old gelding, who still holds the track-record at York for his victory in the 2019 Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, won four Group 1 sprints in his career and cemented himself as one of the most likeable and talented speedsters for many a year. He retired from racing in 2021.
He was joined by AKMAL, his long-term paddock companion, and also a winner of the Group 2 Henry II Stakes at Sandown back in 2010.
Also available for all to see at the National Horse Racing Museum was ex-Shadwell racer ALMOGHARED as part of their Retraining Of Racehorses shows.
Shadwell take great pride in the aftercare of their former charges, whether their next home be with Shadwell or with somebody else. Currently 40% of all horses on Shadwell's European sites are retired from both racing and breeding.
