Fees for Nunnery Stud stallions in 2022 announced
Top miler Mohaather to stand at £15,000
Group 1-winning miler MOHAATHER will command a fee of £15,000 (January 1st, Special Live Foal) for the 2022 breeding season at Nunnery Stud in Thetford.
The highest rated son of Showcasing, he capped a stunning career with an explosive victory in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, in which he posted a faster time than KINGMAN.
MOHAATHER, who was also a Group winner at two, covered 146 mares in his first book this year. He received strong home support, with dual Group 1 winner NAZEEF and ASHEERAH, the dam of Classic scorer AWTAAD and smart filly MEHNAH, confirmed in foal to him.
Tom Pennington, Nominations and Marketing Manager at Shadwell, said: “We’ve taken the decision to reduce MOHAATHER’S fee for 2022 in recognition of the fact that there is a significant premium placed upon first-season sires in the commercial market, and so stallions entering their second year need to be competitively priced to reflect that reality.
“There is no question, considering how high stallion fees are across the board now, that £15,000 rates as fantastic value. MOHAATHER was an exceptional winner of the Sussex Stakes, showing a lethal turn of foot so rarely seen in milers, and he was also a Group winner at two and three.
“He was given fantastic support from a diverse cross-section of breeders this year and consequently covered a strong book of mares. We’re really looking forward to welcoming his first foals in 2022.”
High-class sprinters TASLEET and EQTIDAAR will each stand at £5,000, unchanged from 2021.
The first crop of yearlings by TASLEET have been well received in the sales-ring this year, selling for up to 80,000gns. Buyers have included Robson Aguiar, Karl Burke, Dave Loughnane, Johnny Murtagh and Archie Watson.
“TASLEET’S first yearlings have sold exceptionally well,” said Pennington. “I was thrilled that they averaged ten times his year-one fee at Book 2. When you consider the many successful agents and trainers who have been buying them, the stallion appears to hold every chance of getting off to an excellent start with his two-year-olds in 2022.
“EQTIDAAR has some superb foals on the ground, and we look forward to seeing how they are received at this year’s foal sales. He’s the ideal choice for commercial breeders: he was a Group 1-winning sprinter, he’s by a proven sire of sires in Invincible Spirit, and is out of arguably one of Shadwell’s finest producers in MADANY.”
The Nunnery Stud stallions will be available to view at Beech House Stud in Newmarket during the Tattersalls December Breeding-Stock Sales.
