Top-priced foal at Arqana!
The final foal of Baaeed's first-crop to be offered was a filly consigned by Haras de Colleville, out of Stakes winning and Group 3 placed mare Galova, from the family of Group 1 Deutsches Derby winner, Nicaron.
She made €260,000 selling to Rob Speers/Old Mill Stud, making her the highest-priced foal at the sale!
She rounded off Baaeed's first foals at public auction. From nine foals offered Baaeed's top price was 400,000gns whilst his median was £271,871 and average £250,166. Baaeed was only behind Frankel in terms of his foal median and in the top five by average. Already competing with the elite before having a runner, we'd say that is an impressive start, especially when you consider his best stock is still at home!

JRA Select Sale
As much as buyers and consigners are looking forward to offering Baaeed's first foals at major European auctions in the coming weeks, the first was sold at Japan's JRA Select Sale in July.
The colt out of North American Gr.3 winner Fahan Mura, consigned by Harry Sweeney's Paca Paca Farms, was bought by Cosmo View Racing for ¥56,000,000, the equivalent of approximately £290,000/$360,000.
Ahead of the sale Harry Sweeney said - “he was a mature, good-sized colt on arrival and has done very well since. Currently he has good size and scope, is very pleasing to the eye and is being well received on the farm. He has a great temperament and we believe he will handle the sales experience well.”
He added: “Baaeed was a champion and six-time Gr.1 winner on turf and is a very exciting sire. I was particularly impressed that most of his Gr.1 wins were at a mile, and I believe this colt will have the speed required to be a racing success in Japan.”

The first
The saying goes 'they are not just any first crop of foals, they are Baaeed's first foals'....
After much anticipation, the honour of having the first foal by Baaeed was Haras de la Perrelle in Normandy, a filly purchased in utero, out of Mejthaam a winning sister to Shadwell's dual Gr.2 winner Alflaila.
William Rimaud, manager of the French operation, said: “We are delighted with her. She is a strong, good-sized foal, full of energy and has a great temperament. She is doing everything right. It is very exciting to have had the first foal of the brilliant champion Baaeed.”
Having the first foal of any stallion is exciting for all concerned, but to have the first Baaeed is something Haras de la Perrelle will hope to be able to brag about for a long time.
